SONAJERO MONSTRUO PARA BEBE (MONSTER RATTLER FOR BABY)

Mucho tiempo hace que terminé el más extraño y divertido regalo para nuestro niño. En mayo compré unos ovillos de hilo de algodón DMC “Just Cotton”, como eran muy coloridos decidí hacer un juguete para mr txiquitito, y cuando lo había empezado decidí hacer un sonajero porque no tenía ninguno. Fue un poquito complicado de hacer ya que no tenía ningún patrón y tuve que hacerlo y des hacerlo varias veces, justamente porque era la primera vez que hacía un juguete diferente a amigurumis y estos son más pequeños que lo pretendía hacer; lo más complicado fue encontrar algo que sonara para ponerle adentro y además no fuera a ser peligroso para el bebé especialmente dentro de su única pata (es un monstruo). Solución: huevos kínder rellenos con semillas de soja y complementado con papel celofán ya que suena bastante(es el mismo que le ponen a los libritos que suenan) en su cabeza que a la vez es su cuerpo le metí un cascabelito lo mismo que en sus largos brazos, después decoré con el mismo hilo la cara bordándole la boca y los colmillos y le tejí los ojos de diferente tamaño. El caso es que el resultado fue un bonito, tierno, divertido y ruidoso monstruo sonajero y lo mejor es que a nuestro niño le encanta. No hice fotos del proceso porque más o menos estuve improvisando.

It has been long time since I finished the strangest and most fun present for our boy.  In May I bought some balls of thread from DMC called “Just Cotton”, as they were very colorful so I decided to make a toy for Mr. Txiquitito, and when I had started it I decided to make it as a rattle because he didn’t have one of these. It was a little complicated because I didn’t have any pattern and I’d made and unmade it several times, just because it was the first time that I made a toy different to the amigurumis, and these are smaller than what I intended to make. The most complicated thing was to find something to put inside, just for it to make a noise and that it wasn’t dangerous for baby, especially into his single leg (it’s a monster). Solution: Kinder Eggs filled with soya seeds and supplemented with cellophane paper since it makes a lot of sound (this paper is the same used into the quite books). In his head, which is also his body, I put in an small jingle bell, and I did the same in his long arms. Then I decorated his face by embroidering his mount with the same thread, and canines, and I crocheted his eyes with different sizes.  Anyway the result was a nice, cute, fun, and noisy monster rattle, and the best thing is that our little boy loves it. I didn’t take any pictures during the process because I was more or less improvising. 

AUTO ANTICIPADO REGALO DEL DIA DE LA MADRE (SELF-ANTICIPATED MOTHER’S DAY PRESENT)

Desde hace algunos días estoy viendo en la web y recibiendo en mi e-mail un montón de publicidad acerca del hilo para tejer con dos agujas y crochet de DMC (Natura Just Cotton) se veía muy atractivo por la cantidad de colores increíbles y me picó la curiosidad. Dos semana atrás recibí otra vez una publicidad con una promoción de su tienda en línea con los nuevos colores, y pensé: porque no darme un pequeño caprichito? Y más cuando estamos cerca del día de la madre y posiblemente mi esposo no lo recuerde (probablemente ahora lo va a recordar ya que debe corregir la parte escrita en inglés) Y compré la promoción con los nuevos ocho colores de Natura Just Cotton de DMC. Ya sé que suena a publicidad, pero por si acaso quieren mostrar mi blog en su blog jaja.  En cualquier caso tengo que decir que había probado algodón de otras marcas y este hilo realmente me ha gustado, porque aunque deshagas tu labor, el hilo no se destruye muy fácil (eso también depende de que tan apretado tejas) este es mi caso ya que no estoy muy acostumbrada a tejer en crochet y he tenido que deshacer muchas veces mi labor. Ahora estoy haciendo algo para el pequeño mr. Bum bum, que ya mostraré más adelante cuando lo termine.(este sobrenombre le viene de que cuando estaba en mi barriga, la primera vez que escuchamos su corazón sonaba como tambores africanos y a Mr Q le recordó las películas de Tarzán). Otra cosa la atención al cliente de la tienda en línea es realmente buena y no es por hacer publicidad, porque hice el pedido y a los dos días ya lo tenía en la puerta y una de las otras cositas que pedí no funcionaba bien, entonces le mandé un e-mail haciéndoles la reclamación y a los dos días siguientes tenía otro igual y en perfecto estado.

For some time, I have been looking on the web and receiving by e-mail a lot of advertisements about the DMC cotton thread for knitting or crochet (Natura Just Cotton). It looked very attractive because it has a lot of amazing colors so it aroused my curiosity. So two weeks ago I received an advertisement again with a promotion on their online shop with the new colors, and I thought: why not give myself a little treat? And more so as we are close to Mother’s day and just in case my husband doesn’t remember. (He is probably going to remember now while he corrects my English translation here.) So I bought the promotion with the eight new colors of Natura Just Cotton by DMC. I know it sounds like advertising, but they might want to show my blog on their blog, ha, ha! Anyway I have to say that I have tried cotton threads by other brands and in fact I really like this one because although you unstitch your work, the thread doesn’t get destroyed very easily. (It also depends how tight you knit.) This is my case, since I am not very used to knitting by crochet and I have had to unstitch my work many times. Now I’m making something for little Mr. Boom Boom, which I’ll show whenever I finish it. (He has this nickname because when he was in my belly, the first time we heard his heart it sounded like an African drum and Mr. Q remembered the Tarzan films). Another thing is, the customer service on the online shop is really good, and I’m not saying this as publicity, but because I asked for these and two days later I had my packet on the doorstep. One of the other things that I asked for didn’t work very well so I sent them an e-mail making a complaint and two days later I had a replacement and in perfect condition.

LO PROMETIDO ES DEUDA (THE PROMISED IS A DOUBT)

Hace algunos días estuve explicando acerca de los diseños de los jerséis de las islas Aran y dije que iba a intentar hacer algo con estos diseños y para aquellos que un día dudaron que tengo instinto maternal aquí está la prueba que si tengo, hice este pequeño jersey para el futuro Q junior, lo hice con un algodón verde de la marca Katia, que tenía sin usar y porque es un  color neutral para niño o niña y aún no sabemos el sexo del futuro  bebe Q junior, si es una niña podré hacerle algún cambio como bordarle algo bonito. Este ha sido uno de los más importantes y grandes cambios en mi nueva vida y estamos muy felices, realmente felices (como dice la canción infantil). Para hacer este jerseicito me tuve que ayudar con dos revistas, la primera fue una de DMC con diseños para bebes para tener las medidas necesarias y la otra fue la revista KATIA porque tiene diagramas que explican los diseños y aunque no se entienda el idioma con los diagramas es más fácil de entender, entonces adapté los diseños a las medidas que tenía que usar y la distribución que quería hacer. Adjunto fotos de los diagramas profesionales y mi propio diagrama modificado. Por el momento he empezado otro proyecto para mi hermano, es una bufanda ya que se va el próximo año a Irlanda para hacer un curso de inglés y le vendrá bien con el clima frio de allí, pero en caso de que no pueda ir allí la podrá usar también cuando vaya de acampada con sus hijas y su esposa. Yo espero que le guste, el bb no podrá opinar así que espero que por lo menos le sirva además es el primer jersey de bebe que hago.

A few days ago, I was explaining about the Aran Island sweater designs and I said that I was going to try and make something with these designs so, for those who doubted my maternal instinct; here is the proof that in fact I do have it. I have just made a little jumper for the future Q Jr. I made it with green cotton from the brand Katia, that I had lying about spare, because this is a neutral color for a boy or girl and we don’t know the sex of the future Q Jr. baby yet. If it is a girl, I could make some changes maybe by embroidering something nice into it. This is one of the most important and biggest changes in my new life and we are really happy, so very happy (as in the children song). To make this little jumper I had the help of two magazines, the first being of the DMC with baby designs for having the necessary sizes and the other one was the KATIA magazine because it has diagrams explaining the designs so if you don’t understand the language, it is easier to understand with the diagrams, so I adapted the designs to the sizes that I had to use and the distributions that I wanted to make. I added the pictures of the professional diagram and my own modified diagram. At the moment I have started another project for my brother, which is a scarf because he is going to start an English course next year in Ireland and It could help him a lot with the cold weather there, but in case he can’t go there he can use it for going to the mountains to camp with his daughters and wife. I hope he likes it. The baby won’t be able to have an opinion so I hope at less it suits him or her, because it is the first baby jumper that I make.

AMANTES DEL CELTIC (CELTIC LOVER)

Hooolaaa! Como muchos de ustedes sabes Mr Q. es un fan del Celtic de Glasgow, casi desde que el era niño, entonces, el verano pasado (hace mucho tiempo ya..) empecé a tejerle una bufanda  con los colores típicos de su club de futbol favorito y hecha con algodón porque la lana le pica. Mi idea era dársela como regalo de boda pero no pude terminarla a tiempo, después volvimos a Madrid y había perdido el  ovillo de color negro y la dejé olvidada, pero por culpa de la crisis y mi pereza para ir a comprar regalos (escusas, ya saben) decidí terminar la bufanda sin el color negro (por esta razón no es tan larga como quería desde el principio)y  la puse en una caja con los otros regalitos de navidad para él. Creo que le gustó mucho pero tuvo una seria observación que hacerme: “la próxima bufanda que hagas para mí intenta que el color verde sea más oscuro y fíjate bien qué clase de verde es”
 

Para  los que  no saben que es el Club de futbol Celtic, fue un equipo formado en 1888 por unos monjes para ayudar a alimentar a los inmigrantes irlandeses en Escocia, como consecuencia tienen una gran cantidad de fans en Irlanda así como en Escocia sin mencionar los del resto del mundo.

Ustedes piensan que no tiene un color parecido al del Celtic de Glasgow?

Heyy! As most of you know, Mr. Q is a Glasgow Celtic supporter from almost since he was a child so last summer (I know, a long time ago..), I started to knit a scarf for him with the typical colors of his favorite football club and made with cotton since the wool makes him feel itchy. My idea at the beginning was to give it as a wedding present but I couldn’t finish it on time. Then we returned to Madrid and I lost the black yarn so I left it but, for the fault of the crisis and my laziness in not going to buy a present (excuses, excuses as you know), I decided to finish the scarf without the black yarn (since it isn´t as long as I wanted in the beginning), and put it into the box with the other little Christmas presents for him. I think he liked it a lot but he had a serious observation to make to me: ”The next Celtic scarf that you make for me, please try using a darker green, and look well what kind of green it is.”

For anyone who doesn’t know who the Celtic Football Club is, it was formed in 1888 by Irish monks as a charity to feed poor Irish immigrants in Scotland so, as a consequence  has a large fan base across Ireland, as well as Scotland not to mention around the world.
