CAJAS ESPECIALES (SPECIAL BOXES)

Cuando veía en las revistas y libros de muñecas Tilda, pensaba que eran difíciles de hacer, hasta que tuve la oportunidad de hacer una en mi clase de patchwork, fue fácil, divertido pero que requiere tiempo, más que todo cuando hay que girar las piecitas pequeñas y rellenarlas. Mi primer muñeco fue una jirafa, que iba a ser para una niña, y que como todos ya saben la niña fue niño y como ya la tenía empezada, pues le modifiqué la ropa que iba a usar, y ahora es una jirafa fanática del futbol. Esta no fue muy difícil de hacer porque las piezas eran grandecitas, pero la segunda, era un regalo especial y quería ese diseño, una bailarina y las manos y las piernas eran muy delgadas y difíciles de rellenar, pero con paciencia todo es posible y más ahora que con mr. Txikito tengo un master en paciencia. Las  otras cosas de la muñeca fueron bastante fáciles de hacer.

Yo misma hice la caja para enviar la bailarina, porque intenté encontrar una caja con las medidas específicas  pero o eran muy altas o muy anchas o muy largas o simplemente muy caras. Entonces decidí hacerla con una caja de huevos, pero de las grandes, de las del supermercado, que tenía las medidas perfectas, no muy alta, suficientemente larga y fácil de cortar para hacerla más estrecha, y lo mejor sin sentirme mal conmigo misma si por error la hubiese cortado mal, porque no gasté dinero comprando una caja nueva.

Voy a intentar explicar cómo la hice.

When I saw the magazines and special books about Tilda’s dolls, I thought it was difficult to make, until I had the chance to make one in my patchwork class. It was easy, fun but needed time to make, more than anything, as you have to turn over the small pieces and fill then. My first doll was a giraffe that at first was for a little girl, but as everybody knows now, the girl was a boy, so as I had started it I modified the clothes that it was going to use, and now it is a football fan giraffe. It wasn’t very difficult to make because the pieces were big but the second one was a special gift and I wanted this design. It was a dancer and the arms and legs were very slim and complicated to fill, but with patience all is possible, and  more so now as I  have a master in patience because of Mr. Txiki, so the other doll stuff were really easy to make.

The box for sending this little dancer was made by myself, because I tried to find a box with the specific dimensions but they were very tall, or very heavy or very long or simply very expensive. I decided to do it with one of the bigger egg boxes from the supermarkets. It was  the perfect size, not very tall, long enough, and easy to cut to make it narrow, and the best thing was that I couldn’t have felt bad  if I had cut it in the wrong way because I didn’t  spend money on a new box.

So, I‘m going to try to explain how I did it.

Primero ir al supermercado y buscar la caja, preguntar a las chicas que trabajan allí si se la pueden llevar y luego ir a casa con la super caja debajo del brazo ( revisar que no tenga pegotes de huevo, que para mí es vómitable)

First go to the supermarket and look for the box, ask the ladies who work there if you can take it and go home with your super box under your arm. (Check first if it hasn´t any broken egg yolks or the rest of the egg, because for me this is very disgusting )

Medir el ancho necesario y cortarlo que salgan dos veces de los lados más largos, así tendremos los lados laterales, el de abajo y la parte de arriba fácil de abrir y cerrar.

Weigh the necessary weight, and cut it at the two longer ends, so we have the sides, the bottom and the top of the box, and so they are easy to open.

Cortar las piezas extras de cartón y pegar con cinta adhesiva o con la especial para empacar. Ahora tenemos dos esquinas de caja. Yo además las giré antes de  unirlas.

Cut the extra pieces of cardboard. Join the sides with sellotape or special packing tape. Now you have two little box corners. I turned it out before joining them.

Poner un lado encima del otro de manera opuesta.

Join the two box halves, one on top of the other.

Pones la muñeca dentro y las otras cosas que quieras empacar. Y para finalizar lo cubres con papel plástico, y nuevamente le pones bastante cinta de embalar. Esto con el fin de proteger lo del interior porque me parecía que como estaba no iba a quedar suficientemente protegida,(yo usé negro). Escribes la dirección en una papel blanco y voila! listo para enviar. Perdonen que olvidé tomar una foto del resultado final.

 Put the doll inside  and the other things that you want to package. To finish off, cover it with plastic paper and tie it again lwith packing tape. This is to protect the things inside because I thought that it wasn`t very well protected(I used black plástic paper) , write the addresses on a white paper and, voila! It’s ready to send. Sorry! OTRO CAMBIO! (ANOTHER CHANGE)

Siempre he pensado que soy muy mala dando explicaciones o enseñando algo, pero hace mucho tiempo un amigo decía:" de que vale tener conocimientos si se guardan para sí mismo?" pues estoy totalmente de acuerdo, y como me da de rabia cuando le pregunto a alguien sobre algún asunto y lo único que me dicen, es: puff es que es muy complicado, me dejan con la sensación que soy muy burrita y no lo voy a entender, pero después me consuelo pensando, que solo ha sido un ataque de egoísmo. Además siempre es agradable y de agradecer cuando veo en otros blogs información importante o cuando encuentro explicaciones sobre cosas que estaba interesada. Entonces, como lo que yo no quiero es ser egoísta y pasar por este mundo sin dejar mi granito de arena, voy a intentar en lo posible hacer explicaciones de lo poco que he aprendido, de lo que he investigado por mi cuenta o simplemente compartir los sitios de donde he tomado las informaciones. I have always thought that I’m really bad giving explanations or teaching things, but a long time ago a friend asked what the point was to have knowledge if wasn’t shared. Well, I totally agree as there is something that makes me very angry, and it is when I ask somebody about something and the answer is that it is very complicated. It leaves me with the sensation that I’m very stupid and I’m not going to understand, but then I console myself by thinking that it is only a selfish attack. Moreover it is always pleasant and I feel grateful when I see important information in other blogs or when I find explanations about things that I am interested in. So, as I don’t want to be selfish and stay in this world without leaving my two cents, I’m going to try to explain about the little that I have learned, which I have investigated for myself or simply share the other sites where I have gotten the information. MINI COSTURERO PORTATIL- (MINI PORTABLE SEWING KIT)

Quien de ustedes no ha tenido la necesidad de reparar urgentemente algo en su ropa y no ha tenido el material a mano para hacerlo y tener que comprar esta prenda porque era necesario? Siempre había pensado que esos pequeños neceseres eran cosas de viejitas, pero hasta que algo pasa no piensas realmente que esto es bastante necesario, por esta razón decidí hacer un pequeño porta-ajugas para mi mami y para mi pero mi hermana se enamoró de él y se lo tuve que regalar, algunos días después vi en un libro que se llama “labores decorativas para la casa de Tone Finnanger” otro porta agujas realmente bonito y más seguro, entonces decidí hacer uno de estos con algunos cambios como añadir un lugar para guardar la tijeras y resortes(elásticos) para sostener cartoncitos con hilo(los 2 colores más usados). Who out of you hasn`t needed something repaired urgently in your clothes but didn’t have the materials to repair them with you and you had to buy new clothes because they were necessary?  I have always thought that little sewing kits were things for old ladies, but until something happens you don’t really think that they are necessary. For this reason, I decided to make a little needle book for my mum and for myself but my sister fell in love with it and I had to give it to her. A few days later I saw in a book called Sew Pretty Home-Style, by Tone Finnanger, another really nice and much safer needle book, so I decided to make one of these with some changes, like adding a place to keep the pair of scissors and the elastic band for holding the little cardboard pieces with thread (the two most useful colors). DECORANDO HUEVITOS KINDER (DECORATING KINDER EGGS)

Hola a todos, es fácil saber porque no escribo nada desde hace unos días: ”tiempo de impuestos” y otras cositas acerca del trabajo, más difíciles y aburridas para escribir, pero aunque no tuviese mucho tiempo para hacer manualidades, algo hice. Hace un mes  con mi amiga P. explorando en internet buscando  inspiración para que ella me hiciera un amigurumi que yo quería, encontramos esta linda pagina: entonces decidí empezar a uno de estos bonitos juguetes para mis sobrinas y como al principio fue tan fácil de hacer entonces empecé a hacer otro más para mi compañera de trabajo C(quien yo sé quedó muy contenta con el huevito que copié para ella) y no es que yo sea pretenciosa si no porque ella me lo dijo(esto me hizo sentir muy orgullosa de mi misma) los únicos problemas que tuve al hacer estos huevitos fueron:

1. Estuve pensando como comerme todo ese chocolate porque cuando yo quiero algo, lo quiero ya y tenía que tener los huevitos en el momento aunque no los fuera a usar inmediatamente.. pero después no fue un gran problema porque gracias a Dios vino esposito en mi rescate y el se comió todo el chocolate (yo también me comí uno o dos jeje)porque me dijo que era menos de lo que parecía.

2. el pegante que usé aunque fue el más recomendado por el señor de la ferretería era terriblemente malo y las partes de los cuerpitos pegadas con este pegamento no eran muy fuertes y tuve que usar pinzas de la ropa para presionar y sujetar, entonces después de dos horas estaban pegadas pero con la marca de las pinzas, pero la verdad no creo que quedaron tan feos.

                          

Hello everybody, it’s easy to see why I haven’t written anything for some time. It’s ‘Tax Time’ and other work issues too difficult and boring to write about. But although I haven´t had a lot  of time to do handicrafts something I did do last month with my friend P. was that we were exploring the web because she was looking for inspiration to make an amigurumi that I want and we found this nice page:  http://www.amigurumipatterns.net/Other/Ovetti-Egg-covers/ So I decided to start to make one of these nice toys for my nieces and, as at first it was really easy to make, I started to make another one for my work partner C. (who I know, was very happy with the egg that I had copied  for her); I’m not being pretentious, as she told me this (and it made me feel proud of myself).  The only problems that I had making these eggs were:

 1^st I was thinking how to eat all this chocolate by myself because when I want something, I want it now. I had to have the eggs at that moment though I wasn’t going to use it immediately but then it wasn´t a great problem because thank God, hubby arrived to rescue me. He ate it by himself (I ate one or two too, he he!), because he told me that there was less chocolate than it seems.

2^nd The glue that I used, although it was the most recommended by the man in the hardware shop, was terribly bad, and the parts of the bodies glued with this weren’t very strong  so I had to use clothes pegs to press and hold them. So after two hours, it was glued on but with the mark of the pegs on it though I don’t think it ended up very ugly.

BABUCHAS PARA TOD@S (SLIPPERS FOR EVERYBODY)

Hola! Como en estos días he estado un poco ocupada decidí hacer mis propios regalos para reyes (aquí en España el día grande de los regalos es el 6 de enero, cuando se supones los reyes magos llegaron a Belén para conocer al niño Jesús), entonces me puse a buscar en internet para algunas ideas y encontré en este blog: zoomyummy.com una brillante idea, “babuchas” entonces empecé a hacer un par para mí con una lana feltreable que una amiga me había regalado hace algunos años, con la misma idea, porque me regaló también un juego de agujas (4 agujas de esas que se usan para hacer calcetines) y un patrón en inglés, pero nunca he usado esto y dejé la idea, hasta que encontré esta genial idea en internet,  pero bueno yo cambié las instrucciones del patrón porque la lana era más gruesa que la que usa la blogera, pero la idea era la misma, esto fue realmente rápido de hacer solo gasté unas horas para terminar un par, cuando terminé se las mostré a Mr Q. y se enamoró de las babuchas y decidió quedárselas aunque traté de convencerle con varias disculpas como que eran un poquito gays, que tal vez lucían mejor en una chica, etc, pero al final el me convenció a mi, que eran perfectas para un hombre por el color, calientitas y que solo las usaría para estar en casa, etc, entonces decidimos que si después de lavarlas eran demasiado pequeñas para el (se tenían que lavar para que quedaran como fieltro)yo me las quedaba, pero para mi sorpresa después de lavarlas las babuchas estaban mejor para el (los colores se mezclaron bastante bien)entonces miré en mi canasta de las lanas para mirar que tipo de lanas y que cantidad tenía  y encontré algún buen materia y empecé a hacer babuchas para mis amigas más cercanas.

Hey there!  As I have been really busy recently, I decided to make my own presents for the King’s Day (Here in Spain the big day for presents is the 6^th of January, when the three wizard kings are supposed to have arrived in Bethlehem to meet the baby Jesus Christ). So I was looking on the internet for some ideas and I found in the blog, zoomyummy.com a brilliant idea, slippers, so I started to make a pair for myself with a felt wool that one of my friends gave me some years ago with the same idea, because she also gave me a set of knitting needles (4 knitting needles that are used for making socks) and a pattern but I had never used this so I left that idea until I found this great idea on the internet. Anyway, I changed the pattern instructions because the wool was thicker than the wool used by the blogger but the idea was the same. It was really quick to make and I only spent a few hours finishing a pair. When I finished it, I showed it to Mr. Q and we fell in love with the slippers so he decided to take them for himself. I tried to convince him otherwise, using a lot of excuses like they were a little gay, that maybe they look better on girls etc but, in the end he convinced me that they were perfect for a man because of the color, they were really warm and that he would only use them at home. So we decided if, after washing them, they were too small for him (we had to wash them to change them into felt), I would keep them but to my surprise after washing them, the slippers were better for him (the colors mix really well) so I looked in my wool basket to check what type and quantity of wools I had, and I found some nice materials and started to make slippers for my closest friends.

MARCAPAGINAS (BOOKMARKS)

Esta fue una de las razones por las que tenía un poco abandonado mi blog:

Hace aproximadamente dos meses que aprovechando nuestras vacaciones, nos casamos (el Sr. Q. y yo) Si señores, finalmente dije SI, entonces Hicimos estos marca páginas como recuerdo de nuestra boda; todos están hechos con flores naturales y pequeñas hojas de diferentes árboles y plantas, de aquí y de allí. En el frente están personalizados con flores o con hojas (esto hizo la diferenciación entre hombres y mujeres) y debajo de esto escribimos una cita de amor de un personaje famoso y en el reverso pusimos nuestros nombres y la fecha de nuestra boda. Pienso que fue un bonito, útil y original recuerdito para los invitados a la boda y para nosotros una satisfacción porque en realidad no tuvimos que gastarnos un dineral con estos detallitos.

It was one of the reasons why I had given up on my blog a little:

Approximately two months ago, having taken advantage of our holidays, we got married (Mr. Q. and I). Yes sirs, I finally said YES so we made these bookmarks as a souvenir of our wedding day. They are all made with natural flowers and little lips from different trees and plants, from here and there. On the front, these were personalized with flowers or lips (it was the differentiation between men and women) and under it, we wrote a love quote from a famous personality and on the reverse we registered our names and the wedding date. I think that it was a nice, useful and original souvenir for the wedding guests and for us a great satisfaction because in fact we didn’t have to spend a lot of money on these small details.

These are very good to use in different celebrations or events. If you’re interested in some of these, write me an e-mail and I’ll answer you as soon as possible and give you more details about them.

CUSTOMIZANDO (CUSTOMISING)

Pues si chic@s en esta época donde tanto se habla de crisis, y que a algunos nos golpea más que a otros, hay que hacer como hacían las abuelas... rescatar los trapitos y convertirlos en nuevos con más estilo. aquí les dejo una página donde una chica hace cosas increíbles con camisetas comunes y corrientes. http://marisantos.com/urbn/urban.html Yo incluso me arriesgué con una de estas customizaciones hace algunos días. Aquí les dejo el después porque se me olvidó hacer la foto del antes, pero tengo preparadas otras cuantas que ya las enseñaré en su momento. Espero que se arriesguen a darle nuevos aíres a esas prendas olvidadas o incluso a las de los novios que seguramente las de algunos que yo sé serán grandotas.
