POR AQUI DE NUEVO - AROUND HERE AGAIN

 Hace muucho, pero mucho que no escribía por aquí y no es porque no me guste, si no porque se me han ido acumulando las excusas, el caso es que hace unos días me dijo mi esposito, que, porque no volvía a escribir, en fin que me animo a volverlo a hacer, que no prometo mucha frecuencia, pero sí que lo haré. 

Y que mejor manera de empezar nuevamente a escribir, que contarles mi redescubierta pasión: el tejido. Aprendí a tejer cuando tenía 14 o 15 años, pero nunca me había atrevido a tejer nada muy complicado, lo más grande, difícil, 0 complejo mejor dicho, que he hecho fue un jersey para mi recién nacido bebé, hace como 8 años, no quedó muy bonito ni como debía quedar. El caso es que el año pasado con el tema pandemia, en el aislamiento que tuvimos que estar, pues empecé a interesarme otra vez por el tejido e hice varios chales, sin seguir patrones, por libre, según me iban saliendo, y con 100grs de hilo me salía un chal bufanda bastante agraciado, hice más de uno.  Luego hice un gorro para mi marido, pero seguí un patrón, con video explicativo de Aurora Sisneros (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWmGGQY43Io).

 El gorro le quedó bien a mi marido, así que me quedó gustando, entonces empecé a buscar más cosas para hacer y por casualidad llegué a una diseñadora que vive en Irlanda que se llama Albiona Mclochaliann, que además solicitaba probadoras de tejido; en mi vida había oído hablar de eso, el caso es que me encantó, porque fué la manera de obligarme a probar e investigar sobre técnicas de tejido. Y ya llevo tejido una boina, 1 jersey con una técnica que nunca había hecho, 1 blusa, que en realidad era jersey pero por mi inexperiencia quedó en blusa y estoy empezando mi primer jersey para mi hijo.

 solo puedo decir que sus patrones son fáciles de seguir, incluso para tejedoras no expertas; muy bien explicados, con paso a paso, en fin que recomiendo sus patrones, los tienen en Ravelry (una página web, donde se puede encontrar diseñadores, patrones, foros y todo lo relacionado con el mundo tejeril y crochetero). It has been a long, long time since I have written anything here, but it isn't because I don't want to, but because the excuses have been accumulating. The case is that some days ago my husband asked me why I hadn't written anything lately, so anyway he encouraged me to do so again. I don't promise to do it frequently, but I will do it. 

And what better way to start again to write than to tell you about my rediscovered passion; knitting. I learned when I was 14 or 15 years old, but I have never tried anything very complicated, or better said , the biggest, most difficult or complex was a little jumper for my new born baby, 8 years ago. It wasn’t very nice and it wasn’t the way it should have been done. The case is that last year with the pandemic situation, and the lock down that we had to undergo, well, I started to get interested in knitting again. I made some shawls without following a pattern, on my own, so with a 100-gram ball I made a nice scarf shawl, then I made more than one. Then I made a hat for my husband following a pattern with a video tutorial from Aurora Sisneros (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWmGGQY43Io ). This hat fitted on my husband very well, I liked it, so I started to look for more things to do and by chance I found a designer who lives in Ireland, whose name is Albiona Mclohlainn, and she was calling for knitting testers. I had never heard about this in my life, and the fact is that I loved it because it was the way to make myself test and investigate new techniques I have never done. I have already knitted a beret, a sweater with a technique that I have never done before, a blouse that actually was a jumper, but due to my inexperience it remained a blouse and I started my first jumper for my son.

Many designers ask for knitting testers, so before they sell the patterns, the people who knit their patterns help them to correct mistakes, modify sizes etc. and for those of us who are not expert knitters, we can learn a lot.

I can only say that her patterns are really easy to follow, even for non-expert knitters, they are very well explained, with step-by-step instructions. Anyway I recommend her patterns, and she has them on Ravelry (this is  a web page where you can find designers, patterns, forums, and everything related to the world of knitting and crocheting). Thanks Albiona for having given me  the chance to be one of your knitting testers, and everybody on the web to share their knowledge, without them, I couldn´t follow any pattern. FELICITACION CON RETRASO - CONGRATULATION WITH DELAY

Primavera de Nuevo, y todo el invierno sin escribir ni una palabra en el blog, pero que pasó? Alguno de ustedes probablemente se estuvo preguntando. Un montón de excusas podría tener, pero en realidad estuve pensando en abandonar este blog y empezar otro nuevo, con diferente nombre, y con diferentes cosas, después pensé y porque no cambiar el que ya tienes? Sii? Porque no? Pero por el momento no estoy totalmente decidida. Entonces para empezar otra vez y aprovechando la festividad, aunque un poco tarde, primero quiero desear un feliz día de la mujer, hoy y cada día y en especial a las mujeres en mi vida, empezando por mi mamá quien me ha enseñado un montón de cosas acerca de la vida, el amor, algún truco de supervivencia costuril y un montón de recetas por teléfono. Mi abuela, que aunque no pude disfrutarla mucho porque nos dejó cuando yo tenía solo cinco años (probablemente de ella tengo los genes artesanales) porque me dio a mi mamá. Mi hermanita con quien aprendí a compartir, talvez porque comparte más ella conmigo que yo con ella. Mis profesoras (monjas y no monjas durante toda mi vida), mis amigas, las viejas, las nuevas, las de siempre, las de mi familia adoptiva, mis cuñadas, mi suegra, mis sobrinas, y todas aquellas quienes directa o indirectamente han sido parte de mi vida. Por esa razón gracias a todas ellas.

 Spring time again, and all winter without a word in my blog, so what happened? Some of you are probably asking. A lot of excuses I could make, but in fact I was thinking about leaving this and starting another new blog, with a different name and everything else different, then I thought why not change what you have? Yeah, why not?! But at the moment I’m not really decided. So, to start again  and taking advantage of the festivity first, I want to say happy Women’s Day today and every day and especially for the women in my life, starting with my mum who has taught me a lot of things about life, love, some basic sewing survival tricks and a lot of telephone recipes. My grandma, although I can’t enjoy it with her because she left us when I was only five, (probably from her I have my crafter genes) because she give me my mom, my little sister with whom I learn to share, perhaps she shares more with I than I with her. My teachers (nuns and non-nuns through all my life), my friends, the old ones, the new ones, the permanent friends, the adopted family, my sisters and mother-in-law, my nieces, and all those who directly or indirectly have been part in my life, for this reason thank you all of you.

Segundo, me gustaría mostrar algo de lo que hice para los regalitos de navidad y otras que he hecho durante este tiempo.

El RETORNO DEL JEDI (THE RETURN OF THE JEDI)

Una aclaración primero: porque el título? Porque estoy regresando y me parece que el titulo  suena bien. Había una vez una chica que acostumbraba escribir en un blog, pero un día dejó de hacerlo, porque sí. Esto es un tanto triste pero soy esa chica, mi razón no es exactamente porque sí, pero en los últimos meses estuve un poquito ocupada y cuando tenía algo de tiempo libre lo usaba solamente para divertirme con mi familia, amigos o simplemente dedicando un poco de tiempo para mí misma. Entonces como no he escrito desde mucho tiempo voy a hacer un pequeño resumen de estos últimos meses: estuve haciendo manualidades para mis amigos, algunos de los cuales estuvieron aquí visitándonos, otros los mandé como regalos de navidad para mis amigos que viven en otros países o en otras ciudades aquí en España. Mi suegra estuvo visitándonos y teníamos que atenderla de la misma manera que ella hace cuando la visitamos, y también le hice algunos regalitos. Para el día de reyes intenté hacer algo de decoupage, pero como no tuve tiempo solo decoré los tarros de leche del bebé reciclados, que en mi opinión no quedaron muy mal, pero podrían haber estado mejor. Empecé nuevamente con mis clases de patchwork y el curso para preparar el First Certificate. (estos dos últimos necesitan mucha dedicación). Continúo buscando trabajo ya que las manualidades no son fáciles de vender, pero en estos tiempos es un poco complicado encontrar un trabajo, lo importante es no desistir con ninguna de las dos opciones. Puff, espero volver a la rutina de escribir otra vez, ya que esto a la vez me ayuda  con mis estudios de Inglés, y además también me gustaría hacer algunos cambios en el blog, para hacerlo más atractivo para ustedes mis queridos visitantes. Entonces un poquito de paciencia, mientras tanto les dejo algunas de las cositas que hice durante este tiempo.

An explanation first. Why the title? Because I’m back and this title sounds good. Once upon a time, a woman used to write in a blog, but one day stopped doing it for no reason. It is really sad but I am that girl, and my reason is not exactly for no reason but in the last few months I have been a little busy and when I had some free time I would only use it to enjoy myself with my family, friends, or just dedicating time for myself. So, as I haven’t written in such a long time I would like to make a little summary of these last few months. I was making handicrafts for my friends, some of whom where here visiting us, while others, I sent the handicrafts as Christmas presents to my friends who are in their countries or other cities here in Spain. My mother-in-law was visiting us too and we had to attend to her in the same way that she does when we are visiting her, and I made some presents for her too. For Kings Day I tried to make some decoupage, but as I didn´t have a lot of time, I only decorated some recycled baby milk cans. In my opinion it wasn`t very bad, but it could have been better. I started my patchwork classes again and the curse of preparing my English First Certificate (these last two items need a lot of dedication). I have continued looking for a job, since my handicrafts aren’t easy to sell, but in these times it is a little complicated to find a job, but the important thing is not desist with any of the two options. Puff, so I hope to go back to the routine of writing again, since it is going to help me at the same time with my English studies, and I want to make some changes to the blog too, to make it more attractive for you, my dear visitors, so be patient. Meanwhile, I will leave you some of the little things that I have made during this time.

 

 

LO PROMETIDO ES DEUDA (THE PROMISED IS A DOUBT)

Hace algunos días estuve explicando acerca de los diseños de los jerséis de las islas Aran y dije que iba a intentar hacer algo con estos diseños y para aquellos que un día dudaron que tengo instinto maternal aquí está la prueba que si tengo, hice este pequeño jersey para el futuro Q junior, lo hice con un algodón verde de la marca Katia, que tenía sin usar y porque es un  color neutral para niño o niña y aún no sabemos el sexo del futuro  bebe Q junior, si es una niña podré hacerle algún cambio como bordarle algo bonito. Este ha sido uno de los más importantes y grandes cambios en mi nueva vida y estamos muy felices, realmente felices (como dice la canción infantil). Para hacer este jerseicito me tuve que ayudar con dos revistas, la primera fue una de DMC con diseños para bebes para tener las medidas necesarias y la otra fue la revista KATIA porque tiene diagramas que explican los diseños y aunque no se entienda el idioma con los diagramas es más fácil de entender, entonces adapté los diseños a las medidas que tenía que usar y la distribución que quería hacer. Adjunto fotos de los diagramas profesionales y mi propio diagrama modificado. Por el momento he empezado otro proyecto para mi hermano, es una bufanda ya que se va el próximo año a Irlanda para hacer un curso de inglés y le vendrá bien con el clima frio de allí, pero en caso de que no pueda ir allí la podrá usar también cuando vaya de acampada con sus hijas y su esposa. Yo espero que le guste, el bb no podrá opinar así que espero que por lo menos le sirva además es el primer jersey de bebe que hago.

A few days ago, I was explaining about the Aran Island sweater designs and I said that I was going to try and make something with these designs so, for those who doubted my maternal instinct; here is the proof that in fact I do have it. I have just made a little jumper for the future Q Jr. I made it with green cotton from the brand Katia, that I had lying about spare, because this is a neutral color for a boy or girl and we don’t know the sex of the future Q Jr. baby yet. If it is a girl, I could make some changes maybe by embroidering something nice into it. This is one of the most important and biggest changes in my new life and we are really happy, so very happy (as in the children song). To make this little jumper I had the help of two magazines, the first being of the DMC with baby designs for having the necessary sizes and the other one was the KATIA magazine because it has diagrams explaining the designs so if you don’t understand the language, it is easier to understand with the diagrams, so I adapted the designs to the sizes that I had to use and the distributions that I wanted to make. I added the pictures of the professional diagram and my own modified diagram. At the moment I have started another project for my brother, which is a scarf because he is going to start an English course next year in Ireland and It could help him a lot with the cold weather there, but in case he can’t go there he can use it for going to the mountains to camp with his daughters and wife. I hope he likes it. The baby won’t be able to have an opinion so I hope at less it suits him or her, because it is the first baby jumper that I make.

LA TIERRA DE LOS DISEÑOS DE LAZOS TEJIDOS (THE LAND OF THE KNITTING LACES DESIGNS)

Las Islas Aran son un trio de islas al este de Irlanda, son famosas por sus jerséis y por sus monumentos ancestrales de piedra. Hay muchas historias acerca de los diseños en los jerseys, el más popular es que cada familia tenia su propio diseño y cada uno significaba un acontecimiento importante en estas familias, por ejemplo una boda, el nacimiento de un bebe e incluso la muerte de alguno de sus miembros, cada diseño era enseñado a las mujeres de su familia y solo a ellas y las mujeres cuidaban esto y no lo enseñaban a otras familias, incluso en la actualidad es un poquito difícil encontrar en la misma isla algún libro con los patrones que expliquen como hacer estos increíbles diseños.

Otra historia es muy triste pero tiene algo de lógica, ellos son un pueblo pesquero y en el pasado este trabajo era extremadamente difícil debido a las condiciones climáticas y a la manera en que tenían que desarrollar este trabajo, entonces las mujeres hacían diferentes diseños para los hombres de sus familias en caso de que alguna desgracia les pasara en el mar y los otros pescadores pudieran identificar a que familia pertenecía el cuerpo encontrado.

Estas islas están llenas de historia, por ejemplo en Inis Mór, la mayor de ellas hay un fuerte de la edad de hierro llamado Dun Aonghasa (un rey mítico de la tribu Celta de Fir Bolg ), el cual consiste en una serie de paredes circulares concéntricas justo en el borde de uno de los acantilados. En Inis Oírr, la más pequeña está el castillo de O’Brien construido en el siglo XIV, el castillo fue tomado por los O’Brien al clan de los O’Flaherty de Connemara en 1582. También están allí Los restos del Plassey, un barco de carga que naufragó en los 60’s, milagrosamente los habitantes de la isla salvaron a toda la tripulación y ha estado allí desde el accidente, es famosos porque aparece durante la apertura de los créditos de la conocida serie de televisión Padre Ted (por supuesto en el reino unido y en Irlanda).Las islas tienen esa mágica esencia de envolvernos en la paz de sus verdes praderas y la calma de sus piedras ancestrales, el fresco y frio aire llenaba nuestros pulmones y remplazaba el aire contaminado de las grandes ciudades y hacia que te sintieras que habías nacido para estar allí para siempre, obviamente esto lo sentí justamente porque solo estuvimos allí dos días, tal ves si hubiese estado allí por más de una semana, habría salido de allí nadando aunque no sé nadar, porque no hay mucho que hacer si no vives allí.

Volviendo a los diseños de los jerseys creo que fueron hechos para mostrarnos todas las cosas lindas que podemos hacer con un poquito de imaginación, paciencia y ganas. Yo voy a intentar hacer algo más adelante con los diseños de las islas Aran.

The Aran Islands are a trio of islands in the west of Ireland. They are famous for their Aran sweaters and for their ancestral stone monuments. There are a lot of stories about the designs on their sweaters, the most popular being that every family had their own designs and each one meant an important event in this family, for example, a wedding, the birth of a baby or even the death of one of their members. Each design was taught to the girls in their own family and only to them. The women guarded these as a secret and they didn’t teach it to other families, and even nowadays it is a little difficult in the same islands to find pattern books which explain how to make these incredible designs. Another story is very sad but it has a little sense, as they are a fishing people and in the past this work was extremely difficult owing to the weather conditions and the way that they had to go about this work. The women would make different designs for the men in their families just in case that a tragedy would happen to them in the sea and then other fishermen could to identify to which family the body which was found belonged.

These islands are full of history. For example on Inish Mór, the biggest of the Islands, there is an Iron Age fort called Dún Aonghasa,(a mythical king of the Fir Bolg, a Celtic tribe) which consists of a series of concentric circular walls, just on the edge of one of the cliffs. On Inis Oírr, the smallest island, there is O’Brien Castle, built in the 14th century, which was taken from the O'Briens by the O'Flaherty clan of Connemara in 1582. The wreck of 'The Plassey’, a cargo vessel shipwrecked in the 60’s, is also there. Luckily, the islanders saved all the crew. It has been there since the accident and it’s famous because it appeared during the opening credits in the well-known TV series Father Ted (well-known in the UK and Ireland anyway).

The islands have the magic essence that involves us in the peace of their green fields and the calm of their ancestral stones, the cold and fresh air fuelling our lungs and replacing the polluted air from the big cities, making you feel that you were born to stay there forever. Obviously I felt this just because we were only two days there, so probably if we were there more than a week I would try to get away from there swimming, although I don’t know how to swim, because there isn`t a lot of things to do there if you don’t live there of course.

Anyway, returning to the Aran sweater designs I think they were made to show us all the nice things that we could do with a little imagination, patient and courage, so I’m going to try to make something with Aran Islands designs.

SOLIDARIDAD CON LOS PELUDINES (SOLIRADITY WITH LITTLE FURRY ANIMALS)

Hace algunos dias navegando en la web encontré este blog: http://entreagujasypatitas.blogspot.com.es/ ellas están organizando una campaña para ayudar a la asociación protectora de animales y plantas de Guadalajara-Madrid, la única cosa que tienes que hacer es entrar en esta página y mirar de que manera puedes ayudar. Yo estoy terminando de tejer unos cuadros con pedazos de lana que no había usado y que no combinaban bien con otra lana, creo que esto es una cosa q a las pequeñas mascotitas no les molestará mucho. Espero enviarlos mañana. Decidí ayudar con esta causa porque me acordé de la primera gata que tuvimos en casa, cuando apareció parecía como pidiéndonos ayuda y que mi papá la dejara entrar en nuestra casa; finalmente papá aceptó (más difícil fue mamá) y esta vieja gata solo quería encontrar un hogar para su pequeño gatito porque estaba embarazada, cuando tuvo el gatito unos día más tarde desapareció y nunca más la volvimos a ver pero Rocco sigue viviendo en la casa como un rey.

The only thing that you have to do is enter this page and see whatever way you can help. I’m finishing some knitting squares with pieces of wool that I haven’t used for anything and don’t go well with any other wool. I think this is a thing that doesn’t annoy little pets a lot. I hope to send them tomorrow. I decided to help this cause because I remembered the first cat that we had at home. When she first appeared to us, she seemed to be asking us for help and for my dad to let her come into our home. Finally Dad accepted (Mum was more difficult), and this old cat only wanted to find a home for her little baby kitten because she was pregnant. When she gave birth to the little kitty some days later, she disappeared and we never saw her again but Rocco still at home, alive and living like a king.

PULPO Y GREMLINS AMIGURUMIS (OCTUPUS AND GREMLINS CATS AMIGURUMIS)

Hola a todos, algunos de ustedes se preguntaran porque amigurumis otra vez? Acaso es que esta chica está robando la profesión de una de sus buenas amigas?” pues la respuesta es fácil, como hace algunos días atrás hice para una de mis compañeras de trabajo un pulpo amigurumi, mis otros compañeros quedaron antojados de que les hiciera a ellos también uno, pero decidí hacerles algo más personalizado como pequeños gatitos, ya que  son amantes de los gatos pensé porque no? Puedo hacer algo especial para ellos, y he aquí el resultado: un lindo gremlin gatito negro para él y una sexy gremlin gatita blanca para ella. Espero que a ellos les guste estos dulces amigurumis y los pequeños gremlins-gatitos tengan unos buenos dueños. Ahora tendré que hacer otros 2 para mis otros compañeros de trabajo.

Hi everybody, some of you may wonder “why amigurumis again? Is this girl trying to rob the profession of one of her good friends?” Well the answer is easy, as a few days ago I made a little octopus for one of my workmates. My other work mates were envious of it so they asked me for another octopus but I decided to make them something more personalized, like these little cats since they are cat lovers so I thought, why not? I can make something special for them. And here is the result: A nice black gremlin kitty for him and a sexy white gremlin  kitty for her so I hope they like these sweet amigurumis  and now the little gremlins-kitties have good owners. Now I’ll have to make another two more for my other work mates.

DECORANDO HUEVITOS KINDER (DECORATING KINDER EGGS)

Hola a todos, es fácil saber porque no escribo nada desde hace unos días: ”tiempo de impuestos” y otras cositas acerca del trabajo, más difíciles y aburridas para escribir, pero aunque no tuviese mucho tiempo para hacer manualidades, algo hice. Hace un mes  con mi amiga P. explorando en internet buscando  inspiración para que ella me hiciera un amigurumi que yo quería, encontramos esta linda pagina: entonces decidí empezar a uno de estos bonitos juguetes para mis sobrinas y como al principio fue tan fácil de hacer entonces empecé a hacer otro más para mi compañera de trabajo C(quien yo sé quedó muy contenta con el huevito que copié para ella) y no es que yo sea pretenciosa si no porque ella me lo dijo(esto me hizo sentir muy orgullosa de mi misma) los únicos problemas que tuve al hacer estos huevitos fueron:

1. Estuve pensando como comerme todo ese chocolate porque cuando yo quiero algo, lo quiero ya y tenía que tener los huevitos en el momento aunque no los fuera a usar inmediatamente.. pero después no fue un gran problema porque gracias a Dios vino esposito en mi rescate y el se comió todo el chocolate (yo también me comí uno o dos jeje)porque me dijo que era menos de lo que parecía.

2. el pegante que usé aunque fue el más recomendado por el señor de la ferretería era terriblemente malo y las partes de los cuerpitos pegadas con este pegamento no eran muy fuertes y tuve que usar pinzas de la ropa para presionar y sujetar, entonces después de dos horas estaban pegadas pero con la marca de las pinzas, pero la verdad no creo que quedaron tan feos.

                          

Hello everybody, it’s easy to see why I haven’t written anything for some time. It’s ‘Tax Time’ and other work issues too difficult and boring to write about. But although I haven´t had a lot  of time to do handicrafts something I did do last month with my friend P. was that we were exploring the web because she was looking for inspiration to make an amigurumi that I want and we found this nice page:  http://www.amigurumipatterns.net/Other/Ovetti-Egg-covers/ So I decided to start to make one of these nice toys for my nieces and, as at first it was really easy to make, I started to make another one for my work partner C. (who I know, was very happy with the egg that I had copied  for her); I’m not being pretentious, as she told me this (and it made me feel proud of myself).  The only problems that I had making these eggs were:

 1^st I was thinking how to eat all this chocolate by myself because when I want something, I want it now. I had to have the eggs at that moment though I wasn’t going to use it immediately but then it wasn´t a great problem because thank God, hubby arrived to rescue me. He ate it by himself (I ate one or two too, he he!), because he told me that there was less chocolate than it seems.

2^nd The glue that I used, although it was the most recommended by the man in the hardware shop, was terribly bad, and the parts of the bodies glued with this weren’t very strong  so I had to use clothes pegs to press and hold them. So after two hours, it was glued on but with the mark of the pegs on it though I don’t think it ended up very ugly.

Hola a todos, después de mucho tiempo sin escribir pero sin estar quieta, he hecho mi primer y pequeño amigurumi, impulsada por mi amiga quien empezó a hacer estas pequeñas cositas hace poco tiempo y ella encontró en esto una nueva distracción y porque no una profesión; bueno, que me animó a hacer uno de estos y me enseñó a hacer la base de estos mágicos muñequitos: “ el anillo mágico”, esto fue un poco difícil para mi porque yo soy zurda y no mucha gente puede enseñar a hacer esto, pero cuando estoy interesada en algo no abandono muy fácil, entonces estuve buscando en internet alguna página o algo que  enseñara esto para zurdos y taaachaaa… lo encontré! Hello everybody. After a long time without writing but still keeping myself busy, I have made my first little amigurumi, pushed on by my good friend who started to make these little things not long ago. She found a new hobby in this and why not make a profession out of it too, so she got me to make one of these and she taught me how to make the base of these magical toys: the “magic ring”. It was a little difficult for me because I’m left handed and not a lot of people can teach how to make this, but when I’m interested in something I don’t abandon it very quickly. After learning how to make the magic ring, and as we are close to celebrating St. Patrick ’s Day, I decided to make a little surprise for my husband. I hope he likes it.

Para aquellos que no saben que es esto, es un Leprechaun, es como una especie de duende del folklore irlandés. Su trabajo es hacer zapatos y son muy ricos porque guardan monedas de oro en vasijas muy grandes al final del arcoíris. Si algún humano lo captura el Leprechaun le tiene que conceder tres deseos.

For those who don’t know what it is, this is a leprechaun; it is a type of fairy, from Irish folklore. Their job is making shoes and they are rich because they save gold coins in  big pots at the end of the rainbow. If a human catches one of them, the leprechaun has to grant them three wishes.

CRISIS Y MAS MANUALIDADES DE MIS AMIGAS(CRISIS AND MORE FRIENDS HANDY CRAFTS)

En los últimos días yo estuve realmente ocupada en mi trabajo, haciendo horas extras para sacar las castañas del fuego con los impuestos al jefe, de hecho mis compañeros y yo estuvimos haciendo horas extras durante 3 semanas y esto es realmente triste porque se excusan en la crisis y ahora yo me excuso también con la misma excusa por no haber hecho nada durante tanto tiempo (ya me he desahogado), ahora lo importante: esta es una bonita oportunidad para mostrar las manualidades de mis amigas que son realmente especiales y originales; una de ellas hizo una pulsera con botones y lo más especial fue que la hizo para mí, la otra hizo una colchita Sunbonnet para la hija de su sobrino y luego hizo dos amigurumis realmente bonitos y lo más importante es que era la primera vez que hacía esto y le regaló a mi amiga que hizo la pulsera de botones un koalita y a mí un pulpo muy lindo, Las toallas las bordó una amiga de mi mamá como regalo de bodas para el mr y para mí.

In the last few days I have been really busy because I was doing extra hours in my job to save their bacon with taxes. In fact my workmates and I have been doing it for three weeks, It is very sad because they are excusing themselves with the “crisis” and now I’m excusing myself too with the same excuse not to do anything for a long time (This is me releasing my feelings about work). So, now the important part: It is a nice chance to show my friends’ handicrafts and these are really special and original. One of them made a bracelet with buttons and the most special thing is that she made it for me, while the other made a sunbonnet  blanket for her grandniece and then she made  two really nice amigurumis. The most important thing is that it was the first time she made it and she gave a koala to my friend, who made the button bracelet, and for me a nice octopus, the towels were embroidered for one of my mother's friend as a wedding present for the mr. and me.

Amigurumis: es el arte Japonés de tejer con 2 agujas o crochet pequeños muñecos, figuras o animales, la palabra es derivada de la combinación de las palabras japonesas: ami, que significa tejido en agujas o crochet y nuigurumi, que significa muñeco relleno. Esta es una ancestral tradición japonesa y busca alimentar el espíritu del niño que todos llevamos dentro. Es normal ver estos amigurumis al lado de los ordenadores (computadores para Latinoamérica) para recordarles que hay que sonreír, respirar y tomarse un tiempo para relajar.

Amigurumis: it’s a Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small dolls, figures or animals. The word is derived from a combination of the Japanese words ami, meaning crocheted or knitted, and nuigurumi, meaning stuffed doll. This is an ancestral Japanese tradition because it looks to feed the child spirit who is inside everyone. Is normal to see these amigurumis beside computers to remember them that you have to smile, breath and rest a little time.

BABUCHAS PARA TOD@S (SLIPPERS FOR EVERYBODY)

Hola! Como en estos días he estado un poco ocupada decidí hacer mis propios regalos para reyes (aquí en España el día grande de los regalos es el 6 de enero, cuando se supones los reyes magos llegaron a Belén para conocer al niño Jesús), entonces me puse a buscar en internet para algunas ideas y encontré en este blog: zoomyummy.com una brillante idea, “babuchas” entonces empecé a hacer un par para mí con una lana feltreable que una amiga me había regalado hace algunos años, con la misma idea, porque me regaló también un juego de agujas (4 agujas de esas que se usan para hacer calcetines) y un patrón en inglés, pero nunca he usado esto y dejé la idea, hasta que encontré esta genial idea en internet,  pero bueno yo cambié las instrucciones del patrón porque la lana era más gruesa que la que usa la blogera, pero la idea era la misma, esto fue realmente rápido de hacer solo gasté unas horas para terminar un par, cuando terminé se las mostré a Mr Q. y se enamoró de las babuchas y decidió quedárselas aunque traté de convencerle con varias disculpas como que eran un poquito gays, que tal vez lucían mejor en una chica, etc, pero al final el me convenció a mi, que eran perfectas para un hombre por el color, calientitas y que solo las usaría para estar en casa, etc, entonces decidimos que si después de lavarlas eran demasiado pequeñas para el (se tenían que lavar para que quedaran como fieltro)yo me las quedaba, pero para mi sorpresa después de lavarlas las babuchas estaban mejor para el (los colores se mezclaron bastante bien)entonces miré en mi canasta de las lanas para mirar que tipo de lanas y que cantidad tenía  y encontré algún buen materia y empecé a hacer babuchas para mis amigas más cercanas.

Hey there!  As I have been really busy recently, I decided to make my own presents for the King’s Day (Here in Spain the big day for presents is the 6^th of January, when the three wizard kings are supposed to have arrived in Bethlehem to meet the baby Jesus Christ). So I was looking on the internet for some ideas and I found in the blog, zoomyummy.com a brilliant idea, slippers, so I started to make a pair for myself with a felt wool that one of my friends gave me some years ago with the same idea, because she also gave me a set of knitting needles (4 knitting needles that are used for making socks) and a pattern but I had never used this so I left that idea until I found this great idea on the internet. Anyway, I changed the pattern instructions because the wool was thicker than the wool used by the blogger but the idea was the same. It was really quick to make and I only spent a few hours finishing a pair. When I finished it, I showed it to Mr. Q and we fell in love with the slippers so he decided to take them for himself. I tried to convince him otherwise, using a lot of excuses like they were a little gay, that maybe they look better on girls etc but, in the end he convinced me that they were perfect for a man because of the color, they were really warm and that he would only use them at home. So we decided if, after washing them, they were too small for him (we had to wash them to change them into felt), I would keep them but to my surprise after washing them, the slippers were better for him (the colors mix really well) so I looked in my wool basket to check what type and quantity of wools I had, and I found some nice materials and started to make slippers for my closest friends.
