SASHIKO QUE BRILLA EN LA OSCURIDAD(SASHIKO GLOWING IN THE DARK)

Hace algunos días escribí acerca de la técnica sashiko y estuve pensando en un diseño para mis sobrinas, y como hice un quilt al que le bordé algunos detalles con el hilo de DMC que brilla en la oscuridad pensé: porque no experimentar con este hilo extraordinario y hacer algo especial para ellas? Probablemente esta no sea la manera exacta de hacer sashiko pero creo que el resultado es bastante bueno y durante las noches podrá ser una buena idea   para ayudarlas a dormir. El dibujo lo hice yo misma pero con un poco de ayuda de la web, porque me acordé que “las virgencitas plis” estuvieron muy de moda, decidí hacer una de ellas y además también porque quería hacer algo fácil, bonito, rápido e infantil.

Espero que a las sobrinitas les guste esto.

A few days ago, I was writing about the sashiko technique and I was thinking about a design for my little nieces, so as I made a nice quilt  in which I embroidered some details with the thread that glow in the dark from DMC I thought: why don’t I experiment  with this extraordinary thread and make something  special for them? So it probably isn’t the exact way to make sashiko but I think the result is really good, and during the night it could be a good idea  to help them to get to sleep. The drawing was made by myself but with a little help on the web because I remembered the “virgencitas plis” were very much in fashion, so I decided to make one of them and because I wanted to make something easy, nice, quick and childlike too.

I hope the little nieces like it.

VACACIONES FORZADAS Y DIA DE LAS MADRES (FORCED HOLIDAYS AND MOTHER'S DAY)

Hola a todos, ya sé que el día de las madres fue días atrás, pero donde? Porque en otros países, el día de las madres se celebra incluso en diciembre, y para los buenos hijos e hijas el día de las madres se celebra todos los días. Bueno, como tuve algunos pequeños problemas otra vez por culpa de mi trabajo no pude enviar a mi mami un bonito regalo y porque por otro lado a ella no le gustan mucho las manualidades como regalo, aunque cuando éramos niños y estábamos en la escuela, todos nuestros regalos para ella eran manualidades y ella los guardó como verdaderos tesoros, incluso tiene algunos muy bien conservados. Entonces decidí enviarle tan pronto como sea posible una bonita manualidad y otra perfumado y costoso regalo (uyy, lo dije o lo pensé en voz alta?). Tuve el mismo problema con mis mamis adoptivas(las dos señoras que son como mamás para mi aquí) y con mi suegra, pero para las dos primeras, el viernes pasado hice una cenita para celebrar este dia especial y también porque ellas estuvieron visitando a sus respectivos hija e hijo(están juntitos como parejita), pero esta es otra historia. Pues entonces hice para ellas durante mis obligadas vacaciones estos regalitos: el primero lo había empezado el año pasado para la misma celebración pero no pude terminarlo a tiempo(es un quilt de gatos que copié de algún lugar de internet) este quilt tiene un detalle especial: las pequeñas estrellitas y las líneas bordadas alrededor de la luna y las estrellas grandes esta hecho con el hilo especial que brilla en la oscuridad de DMC, es realmente increibe! Ahora creo que este puede ser más un regalo para su nieta, pero en cualquier caso lo hice con mucho cariño.  el segundo es un set de mantelitos individuales que estoy segura podrá usar un montón. Con la suegris no pudimos celebrar este día más que todo por la distancia, pero tiene también un pequeño regalito que está volando hacia ella y lo puse en otra entrada de este blog, espero que lo encuentre útil también y cuando vayamos que espero sea este verano, le compraremos otro regalo especial.

Hi everybody, I know that Mother’s Day was a good few days ago, but where? Because in other countries, Mother Day’s is even celebrated in December and for good daughters and sons, Mother’s Day is celebrated every day. Anyway, as I had a little trouble again because of my job I couldn’t send my mother a nice present and she doesn’t really like handicrafts as presents anyway. However, when we were children and we were at school, all our presents for her were handicrafts, which she kept as special treasures. In fact she has some of them very well preserved, so I have decided to send her I hope as soon as possible a nice handicraft and another perfumed and expensive present (whoops, did I just say that or did I think it out loud?). I had the same problem with my adopted mothers (the two nice ladies who are like mothers to me here) and with my mother in law, but for the two first ones, last Friday I prepared a little dinner to celebrate this special day and because they were also visiting their daughter and son respectively (they are together as a couple), but this is another story. Any way I made for them during my forced holidays these gifts: the first one I started last year for the same celebration but I couldn’t finish it on time (it is a cat quilt that I copied from the web). This quilt has a special detail: the little stars and the stitch lines around the moon and the big stars are made with the special thread that glow in the dark from DMC, which is really amazing! Now I’m thinking that it could be more a present for her little granddaughter, but in any case I made it with a lot of love. The second is a set of table mats that I’m sure she can use a lot. With the mother in-law we couldn’t celebrate this day most of all for the distance but she has too a little present that is flying now to her and I attached it in another entry to this blog, so I hope she finds this present useful too and when we go there, which I hope is this summer, we are going to buy another special present for her.

DECORACIONES DE NAVIDAD (CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS)

Hola a todos, aunque no tengo mucho tiempo para mis pequeñas creaciones, he tratado de hacer algo bonito para este tiempo especial: “Navidad” y porque para mi es una de las festividades mas importantes, no por nada en especial, incluso para muchos de mis amigos para mi debería ser una de las más tristes porque estoy lejos de mi familia pero, no sé a través de la distancia yo siento que estoy con ellos. Entonces para celebrar estos días especiales hice estas pequeñas decoraciones. Espero que les guste, particularmente porque son apropiados para usar in el árbol de navidad o en la pared.

Hello everybody. Although I don’t really have much time for my little creations, I tried to make something nice for this special time: Christmas.  For me it is one of the most important festivities, not for anything in particular though if it weren’t for many of my friends it would be one of the saddest times of the year for me because I’m so far away from my family. However, I don’t know but I feel that, despite the distance, I’m with them. So to celebrate these special days, I made these small decorations. I hope you like them particularly because these are appropriate to use on the Christmas tree or on a wall.

FORRO PARA LA BOLSA DE AGUA CALIENTE (LINER FOR HOT-WATER BOTTLE)

Hola a todos, el invierno está aquí, no exactamente pero más o menos, especialmente para personas como yo que cuando el tiempo está un poco frío nuestros pies son imposibles de calentar. Hace unos días fui al chino para comprar una bolsa de agua caliente normal y corriente que suelo tener durante las noches porque mi “costillita”(En mi país esta es una palabra cariñosa usada para tu pareja) está cansado de que le ponga mis congelados pies entre sus piernas; pero el forro que traen estas botellas no son muy bonitas... entonces, decidí  hacer mi propio forro. Usé el modelo que viene en un libro muy bonito llamado “labores decorativas para la casa” de ”Tone Finnanger - TILDA” las imágenes son realmente hermosas y te sientes tentado hacer todas estas maravillosas cosas.

Hello everybody, winter is here! Not yet, but more or less and especially for people like me whose feet are totally impossible to warm when the weather is a little cold. So I was in the Chinese shop a few days ago and bought the normal hot water bottle that I usually have during the night because my “Little Rib” (In my country this is a loving word used for your partner) is tired of me putting my frozen feet in between his legs. However, the liners that these bottles have aren’t all that nice so I decided to make my own liner. I used a model which I found in a really nice book called “Sew pretty homestyle” by ”Tone Finnanger - TILDA”.  The images are beautiful and you feel tempted to make all these wonderful things.
